Mazda may stop the car production in Russia


Sollers Auto is discussing with Mazda the issue of the car production stopping in Vladivostok and buying out Mazda's share in the joint venture by Sollers. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of "Sollers Auto", by adding that the company has already developed a plan to restart the plant in Vladivostok for the production of cars of other brands and is currently finalizing negotiations on this issue.

Mazda Sollers Manufacturing Rus is a joint venture between Mazda Motor Corp. and "Sollers", created on the principles of partnership 50/50. The design capacity of the Mazda Sollers plant is 100,000 vehicles per a year. The volume of investments in the project was about 10 billion rubles. The plant in Vladivostok produced the Mazda CX-9 full-size crossover, the Mazda CX-5 crossover and Mazda 6 sedan.

According to the results of eight months of 2022, 8,537 Mazda cars were purchased in Russia, which is 55.5% lower in compare with the same period of the previous year, experts of the AUTOSTAT agency report with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*. At the same time, the most popular Mazda model in the Russian market in the reporting period was CX-5 crossover with 6,349 vehicles (-48.9%).
