    The analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of AvtoVAZ confirmed that the company plans to leave temporarily the European market. Meanwhile, we decided to find out how many LADA cars and which models were delivered to the countries of the European Union in 2018.



Investments into the "new Russian" car industry have already exceeded 3 billion USD

The analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" estimates that the direct investments in the Russian car industry have exceeded 3 billion USD for the last six years. Also about 2 billion USD should be directed to establishment of new assembly capacities of foreign cars and the expansion of the operating ones in the next 2-3 years. But ... if the crisis does not prevent it.
Nevertheless, the director of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Tselikov says that the operating capacities are expected to produce 750,000 foreign cars per year and in case of the successful finishing of all started projects the total assembly volume of foreign models could grow to 1.5 million units by 2010-2011. So it is exactly the volume which will be produced by the whole Russian car industry in 2008 including domestic plants.
The most significant investment project of the new Russian car industry has become the building of the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga estimated in more than 500 million USD. Almost the same sum of investments was supposed to be mastered at the second Kaluga enterprise realized by joint efforts of PSA and Mitsubishi. Also, more than 500 million USD will be invested by the company Sollers in some projects at once (Naberezhnye Chelny, Alabuga and Ulyanovsk).
Other projects, such as the joint venture GM-AVTOVAZ in Togliatti, Ford in Vsevolozhsk, GM in St.-Petersburg, TagAZ, Avtotor and Avtoframos, are within the range from 200 to 300 million USD from the point of view of direct investments. The project of the organization of the Volga Sibir assembly in Nizhny Novgorod cost about 280 billion USD. The Japanese companies Toyota and Nissan are a little less generous with the investments. Their investments in the Russian projects in St.-Petersburg should be not more than 200 million USD.
According to Sergey Tselikov nowadays despite the crisis none of auto companies has declared about the freezing of its Russian project. There is information only about some prolongation of terms of some projects realization or about plans reduction. So, the Vsevolozhsk Ford has shifted the start of the Mondeo model assembly since autumn of this year to spring of 2009. The Renault company has not begun to force events concerning the projects Renault Sandero in Moscow and Renault Logan MV in Togliatti, having shifted them to 2010 and 2011 correspondingly. The Volkswagen plant in Kaluga has reduced the plan for 2009, down approximately 20,000 units. Other plants still keep silence though experts do not exclude that practically all of them will have to correct the plans for 2009-2010.
