Avtotor may start the production of new models in 2022

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant plans to launch new projects with foreign partners by the end of 2022. The governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov spoke about it during a live broadcast on the VKontakte social network, without specifying which brands and models are in question.

According to him, in 2023 the company expects to reach the production level of 50-70 thousand cars and increase the production volumes in the future. At the end of 2021, Avtotor produced more than 177 thousand vehicles, which is 13% higher than a year ago.

Avtotor is currently producing Kia and Hyundai models, while the BMW assembly line has been suspended. According to the head of the Kaliningrad region, today the company produces cars from the remnants of components that arrived back in June and allowed the plant to operate in partial load mode.
