Indian Mahindra introduced a new electric crossover

Indian concern Mahindra introduced a new electric crossover Mahindra XUV400. The cost of new items will be announced closer to the start of sales, which is scheduled for January 2023.

According to Autoreview, Mahindra XUV400 is not an original development, but an electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 crossover, which, in turn, is based on the SsangYong Tivoli model (the controlling stake in the Korean company belonged to Mahindra for a long time). The electric car was also developed in collaboration with Korean specialists, but without direct borrowing, because Tivoli does not have an electric version: SsangYong began the electrification with a larger Korando model.
If Mahindra XUV300 has a cut rear overhang to fit into the preferential four-meter length standard, then the electric car did not have to be shortened: there are no similar exemptions for battery cars in India. Therefore, the length of the Mahindra XUV400 is comparable to the Tivoli: 4200 mm from nose to tail. The wheelbase of the entire family is the same - 2600 mm. The electric crossover has an original front mask, bumpers and wheels have been changed.

The only electric engine is installed on the front axle, it produces 150 hp and 310 Nm. The lithium-ion traction battery has a capacity of just 39.4 kWh, but the company announced that it will have a range of 456 km by India's highly optimistic MIDC cycle. The AC charger has a power of 7.2kW and the DC charger has a power of 50kW.

The Indian electric car has three driving modes, for which the atypical names Fun, Fast and Fearless are selected. It is difficult to say which one is the most economical. And the one-pedal driving mode is called Lively Mode. Acceleration time is up to 100 km / h - 8.3 s, the maximum speed is 150 km / h.
The interior of the original crossover Mahindra XUV300 went to the electric car in almost its original form: a new transmission selector appeared, instruments were changed, and the media system with a seven-inch screen has a navigator that can build routes based on the placement of charging stations.
