AVTOVAZ continues to look for alternative suppliers of components for LADA vehicles to replace those that stopped the cooperating with the Russian automaker due to sanctions. As of today, import substitution at AVTOVAZ has been completed by 66%, that is, the company has to find a replacement for about 1.5 thousand components out of 4.5 thousand, from which the car is assembled. Maxim Sokolov, president of AVTOVAZ, informed about it in an interview with RBC, by adding that about 300 different components are at risk and are constantly monitored.
Recall that in early June AVTOVAZ resumed the production of a simplified LADA Granta, in mid-July a three-door SUV LADA Niva Legend in a special configuration returned to the assembly line, and a month later the production of the Niva Travel model was resumed. At the end of 2022 - the beginning of 2023, LADA Largus station wagon should return to operation, and at the beginning of next spring, the production of the updated LADA Vesta will resume, and its production will be transferred from the LADA Izhevsk enterprise to the main AVTOVAZ site in Tolyatti - to line B0.
But AVTOVAZ decided to abandon the production of the LADA XRAY hatchback due to its heavy dependence on foreign components. AVTOVAZ retains the undisputed leadership in the Russian market - 15,737 LADA cars (-31.5%) were purchased in August, according to the data of the AUTOSTAT agency and Electronic Passport JSC.
