A polygon for electric vehicles will be created in Russia

The Government of the Russian Federation approved the rules for granting subsidies to Russian scientific and research centers involved in the development of electric vehicles, as well as vehicles using hydrogen as fuel. A subsidy in the amount of 1.5 billion rubles will be provided to the developer of the test equipment complex. It should include stands for testing engines and batteries, as well as stands for testing cars for fire resistance and a crash test facility, the government press service informed. In addition, the complex should include a test site and two filling stations. One of them is for high-speed charging of electric vehicles, the second is for refueling with hydrogen fuel.

The recipient of the subsidy will be selected by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on a competitive basis. Funding will be in 2022-2023. The organization that won the competition will have to create a complex and begin testing and certification of environmentally friendly vehicles there no later than December 31, 2024. There are currently four research centers in the country that qualify for the grant. According to the draft strategy for the development of the automotive industry, prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the share of electric vehicles by 2030 may reach 15% of the whole Russian car market.

It is planned to launch a line of highly localized electric vehicles with significant sales growth rates of 65-70% per a year. According to the data of the agency "AUTOSTAT" and JSC "Electronic Passport", for eight months of 2022, the market of new electric vehicles in our country grew by 30.5% and reached 1,595 cars.
