Russian car market is recovering for the third month in a row. In August: +20%

In August of this year, Russians bought 42,593 new cars, which is 20% higher than in July. Such data were received by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing the relevant information by JSC "Electronic Passport". Thus, experts say that the Russian car market is recovering for the third month in a row. Recall that in May it was recorded the lowest result - 27,458 units. And in the summer, the car market volume grew every month: June - 32,731 units, July - 35,583 units, August - 42,593 units. On the other hand, if we compare the figure for August with the level of a year ago (August 2021), it will be 64% lower.

The domestic brand LADA had the share of 37% of all new sold cars in August that is 15,737 units. Second place, four times behind, was taken by the Korean brand Kia (3,872 units). Three more automakers from China – Haval (3,040 units), Chery (2,983 units) and Geely (2,935 units) – are in the TOP-5 of the brand rating. The listed brands in total accounted for two thirds of the market of new passenger cars in August. Leadership in the model rating is retained by LADA Granta, the share of which in the last month of summer exceeded a quarter of the total market volume. So, in August, the residents of the Russian Federation purchased 11,302 cars of this family.

The best among foreign models was Haval Jolion crossover, which sold 2,049 units. The third place was taken by LADA Vesta (1,880 units), and the top-five, with almost equal results, was finished by Geely Coolray and Chery Tiggo 7 PRO (1,599 and 1,595 units, respectively).
