Kama Company plans to test the first prototypes of the Kama electric car in mid-2023. According to the Drom.ru portal, citing its sources, the main task of the executive director of Kama, Harald Gruebel, is to select a new engineering center as soon as possible, the specialists of which could replace Torino Design, which left the project. If the prototypes of mid-2023 turn out to be successful, show compliance with the terms of reference and do not require layout changes, the production part of the project will start.
For the next year, by the middle of 2024, it is planned to assemble a series of pilot units on a predominantly serial equipment. As previously reported, Kama, the Kama electric vehicle start-up, plans to produce more than 450,000 electric cars per a year by 2030. Thus, Kama has a chance to be a leader in sales in the segment in the Russian market, but the experts do not see potential demand for such production volumes in our country yet.
However, some of this amount may be produced in Hungary - earlier, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of this country and Kama signed an agreement of intent, which provides for the development of a partnership in the production of electric vehicles in Hungary. Recall that KAMAZ participated in the development of the electric vehicle "Kama", in the future, a subsidiary of KAMAZ - the company JSC "Kama" will be engaged in the production of a promising novelty.
