According to Denis Migal, General Director of the Fresh Auto car dealership network, due to the optimal cost of about 1 million rubles, Iran Khodro brand cars, such as Rira crossover, Tara and Samand compact sedans, as well as the KMC J7 sedan from the automaker Kerman Motor, can replace not only European models that are practically no longer supplied to the Russian market (Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Polo), but also to push out popular Korean cars of the mass segment (Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio). In turn, the editor-in-chief of Radio Avtodor, Igor Morzharetto, notes that if you try to import Iranian cars into our country, they will turn out to be significantly more expensive than in your home market (due to customs duties, VAT, and recycling fees). Success (especially in the absence of competitors) can only be if Iran Khodro or another company decides to assemble cars in Russia and can receive government support and compensation under a special investment contract (SPIC).
Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom Group of Companies, says that the prospects for Iranian cars are not obvious yet - it is necessary to import and test demand for them. But at the same time, they will become an obvious competitor for the domestic AVTOVAZ both in terms of price and characteristics. And if there are political agreements, then it will be not easy for AVTOVAZ in the market with all the problems with components.
