If in Moscow the domestic brand LADA became the leader of the car market in July for the first time in 13 years, then in St. Petersburg the Korean Kia retains a similar title. This was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the course of processing and analyzing the relevant information of JSC "Electronic Passport". Since the beginning of 2022, Kia has been holding the lead in the brand ranking in the market of new passenger cars in the Northern capital. July was no exception in this regard - Petersburgers bought 420 cars of the Korean brand for a month.
With a noticeable lag behind the leader, another automaker from South Korea, Hyundai (272 units), was the second one according to their preferences. The third position is occupied by the Chinese brand Geely (241 units), which is slightly behind the domestic LADA (239 units). Chinese brand Chery with 194 sold units finished the TOP-5 of the St. Petersburg car market in July. Kia is the leader in the local market and among models, but the top three of this rating in July looks quite dense. The first place is occupied by Kia Rio - 146 residents of the Northern capital purchased cars of this family the last month.
LADA Granta (145 units) is the second one, Geely Coolray (144 units) is the third one. In addition to them, two more “Chinese” were in the top five - Chery Tiggo 7 PRO and Haval Jolion (113 and 108 units, respectively). In total, in July 2022, 2,295 new cars were purchased in St. Petersburg, which is three times lower than in the same month of the previous year.
