80% of new cars imported to Russia are from China

In 2022, the peak of imported cars was in February. Then more than 32 thousand cars were imported into our country. At the same time, the share of new cars was 65%. In July, 25,000 cars were imported. However, the share of new cars was only 32%. The rest one included cars with mileage. Cars are brought from foreign countries both by legal entities and ordinary citizens. However, the share of individuals is constantly growing.

And if in February individuals imported only 2% of the total volume of imported new cars, then in July this figure grew 10 times - up to 20%. In the used car segment, the situation is different. Legal entities practically do not import used cars into the country. This is what ordinary citizens do. Since January, the share of individuals exceeds 90%. Already in July, 99% of used cars were imported by individuals. From which countries are cars most often imported? In the 1st quarter, China (28.3%), Belgium (25.2%) and Germany (17.4%) were the leaders in the segment of new passenger cars. In the second quarter, the situation changed.

China also remains the leader (80.6%). In second place there is South Korea (7%), in third – there is Japan (2.6%). The share of Chinese cars has increased several times. Japan is the leader in the used car segment in the first and second quarters, with a market share of 86.6% and 87.4%, respectively. In second place with a huge lag there is Belarus (Q1 - 3.9%, Q2 - 2.8%). In the third place in the first quarter there was Germany (2.5%), in the second - United States (2.3%).
