A new version of the SUV "Strela" is presented

As a part of the Army-2022 International Forum taking place in Moscow, a presentation was made of a new version of the Strela civilian off-road vehicle, which is being developed by the Military Industrial Company together with the Youth Design Bureau at the Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman. The length of the five-seat Strela SUV 3.5 tons is 5200 mm, the width is 2550 mm, and the height is 2400 mm.

The ground clearance of the vehicle is 270 mm, the depth of the ford to be overcome is 1 m. The presented version of the Strela is distinguished by a completely original body. In the first version of the car of the 2021 model, it was made from elements of the cab of the GAZelle Next light truck. The new Strela received round headlights, a small grille with vertical slats, a winch, a raised hood, square wheel arches and off-road tires. In general, the design of the vehicle is somewhat reminiscent of the Tiger armored car and the Combat T98 SUV.

Under the bonnet of the Strela SUV, a 2.8-liter Cummins ISF diesel turbo engine or a Chinese Foton unit localized at YaMZ can be installed. Engine power ranges from 157 to 200 hp. Both engines work in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The vehicle can accelerate on the highway up to 130 km / h. According to the data of the agency "AUTOSTAT" and JSC "Electronic Passport", by the results of July, Russians bought 17,530 cars of the SUV segment, which is 74% lower than a year before. For seven months of 2022, its volume fell by 54% and reached 209,958 cars.
