AvtoVAZ plans to produce almost 140,000 LADA vehicles in the second half of 2022, which is twice more in compare with the first half of the year. Viktor Kudryashov, the chairman of the government of the Samara region, announced it, by noting that extended shifts will be organized at the enterprise in Togliatti from the end of August, which will last for 10 hours, and from September AVTOVAZ will switch to a six-day working week on three lines.
In addition, in March of 2023, the production of the flagship model LADA Vesta will begin at the Togliatti site of AVTOVAZ, which will allow the plant to reach a production volume of up to 400,000 cars per a year the next year, the press service of the government of the Samara Region reports. Recall that in early June, AVTOVAZ resumed the production of a simplified LADA Granta, and in mid-July, a three-door SUV LADA Niva Legend in a special configuration returned to the assembly line. In the future, it is also planned to resume the production of the Niva Travel SUV.
But the flagship LADA Vesta will return to the conveyor in early spring of 2023, and its production will be transferred from the LADA Izhevsk enterprise to the main AVTOVAZ site in Tolyatti - to line B0. Meanwhile, the production of LADA XRAY hatchback, which was created on the basis of Renault Sandero Stepway, as well as the Duster crossover under the LADA brand, remains in question - a decision on their future fate is planned to be made the next year.
According to the data of the AUTOSTAT agency and Electronic Passport JSC, AVTOVAZ retains undisputed leadership in the Russian market - for seven months of 2022, 83,564 LADA cars were purchased, which is 63.5% lower than in the same period of the previous year.
