"AUTOSTAT OMNIBUS" is an annual project of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", which is a survey of car owners according to a certain methodology and makes it possible to compare assessment indicators over time.

Dynamics of car sales by segments in 1H 2022

From January to June of this year, sales of new passenger cars in Russia were 352.1 thousand units, which is 56% lower in compare with the same period of 2021. Such data are provided by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analysis of the relevant information of JSC "Electronic Passport". The market decline affected all represented segments, with D-class cars being the most affected (-69%). But less than others, the sale of pickups "sank" - by 23%. Most of all, according to the results of the 1st half of the year, crossovers and SUVs were sold - 192.4 thousand units. Thus, the SUV segment accounted for 54.6% of the total volume of the Russian market.

The leadership is held by Hyundai Creta crossover (14 thousand units), followed by LADA Niva (13.8 thousand units) and Renault Duster (11.5 thousand units). Sales of cars in segment B, which is the second largest in our market, were 113.7 thousand units for 6 months. This corresponds to a share of 32.3%, i.e. this is every third sold car. The first place among them is occupied by LADA Vesta family, the sales volume of which is 23.7 thousand units.

Another domestic family is the next - LADA Granta (22.1 thousand units). Kia Rio finishes the top three (19.7 thousand units). These two segments account for 87% of the Russian market, respectively, for all the others - only 13%. At the same time, none of the “small” segments has a market share of even 4%. Their sales volumes, dynamics, as well as the most popular models are presented in the picture.
