The Russian company UralMotorcycles launched the production of Ural motorcycles in Kazakhstan - at the newly created facilities in Petropavlovsk, from where the equipment will be exported to far abroad countries - to the USA, Canada, the European Union, Australia, Japan. Prior to this, the Urals were produced only at the Irbit Motor Plant in the Sverdlovsk Region, where they will continue to be produced for the domestic market of Russia and those countries that have remained neutral or friendly, such as China. In addition, the enterprise in Irbit will manufacture frames and body elements for motorcycles assembled in Kazakhstan, the Drom.ru portal reports. At the end of 2021, the Ural Motorcycles plant delivered 1,150 units to consumers.
This year it was planned to produce about 1,300 motorcycles, among which more than 80% is intended specifically for export. In connection with the events around Ukraine, the production volume will decrease, but the management of the enterprise plans to make up for the losses after the launch of assembly in Kazakhstan. Ural Motorcycles is the only company in the world engaged in the serial production of heavy off-road motorcycles with a sidecar. They are equipped with a 749 cc two-cylinder engine developing 41 hp and 52 Nm of torque. The engine works with a 5-speed gearbox (four front and one rear).
Thus, UralMotorcycles is the direct successor to the classic Soviet Ural brand. In 2000, the bankrupt enterprise in Irbit was bought out by a group of investors, which included the current CEO of Ural Motorcycles, Ilya Khait.
