    According to the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, at the beginning of this year there were more than 43 million cars in Russia. At the same time, about 40% of them are not older than 10 years, which, in quantitative terms, slightly exceeds 17 million units.



The Russian market of used cars fell by a third in June


In the first month of summer, Russians bought 353,000 used cars, experts of the AUTOSTAT agency found out based on the results of data processing by Electronic Passport JSC. Experts also note that this volume is 8% higher than in May and 32% lower than the result of June 2021.

The most popular brand in the secondary market of the Russian Federation remains the domestic LADA - in June, the residents of the Russian Federation purchased almost 90 thousand of these used cars. Thus, LADA accounted for 25.4% of the total volume. Toyota is traditionally the leader among used foreign cars. So, for a month, Russians became owners of 38.5 thousand cars with mileage of this Japanese brand. The TOP-5 of the most popular brands also include Korean Hyundai (19.9 thousand units) and Kia (19.8 thousand units), as well as Japanese Nissan (18.7 thousand units). At the same time, all the listed brands showed a market decline in June, ranging from 27% (LADA) to 34% (Toyota).

The leadership in the secondary market among models is held by the LADA 2114 Samara-2 hatchback, which sold 8.8 thousand units in June. Behind it there are two "Koreans" - Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio (7.9 thousand and 7.8 thousand units, respectively). The LADA 2107 sedan lags behind them with the result of 7.7 thousand sold cars. Ford Focus finishes the top five (7.5 thousand units). In addition to them, the TOP-10 of the secondary market in June included: sedan LADA 2170 "Priora" (7.4 thousand units), Toyota Corolla (6.2 thousand units), 3-door SUV LADA Niva (6 thousand units), LADA 2110 sedan (5.5 thousand units) and LADA 2190 Granta sedan (5.3 thousand units).

We also note that in the first half of 2022, 2.17 million used cars were purchased in Russia. This is 22% lower than in January-June of 2021.
