Dynamics of the Russian car market in August of 2020

Only sales of MPV segment cars are growing in Russia

The drop in sales of new passenger cars affected almost all of their segments, except for one. As the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" managed to find out in the course of processing and analyzing the data of JSC "Electronic Passport", the market growth is observed in the MPV segment.

Thus, the sales volume of minivans, compact vans, cross vans and other vehicles included in this segment, according to the results of the 1st half of 2022, was 1,786 units. And this is 48% higher than for 6 months of the previous year. At the same time, MPV sales still remain at a very low level - they own only 0.5% of the Russian market.

Almost 85% of sold such cars were Kia Carnival cross-country vehicles (1509 units). Far behind the leader, the second place is occupied by Toyota Alphard (147 units), and GAC GN8 (38 units) finishes the top three.
It should be noted that sales of cars in other segments fell in the first half of the year, and this happened most of all among D-class cars (-69%), while pickup trucks suffered the least (-23%).
