The auto crediting market is 6-7 billion USD short because of the crisis

The consequences of the global financial crisis have gradually started to reflect on the real economic sector. First the Russian auto market suffers from the reduction of the volume of auto crediting. Thus, the demands to potential loaners have been stepped up in short terms, the rates of interest have been increased but the maximum terms of crediting on the contrary have been decreased.
It is practically impossible to get credit without the initial installment in the amount of 20-30 percent from the loan sum. In November 2008 the rates of interest reached the level of 15-25 percent per annum. The number of refusals to give credits for car purchase increased 1.5-2 times. Some banks suspended the program of auto crediting this autumn and a range of financial institutions significantly brought down the limits for its issue.
It is worth mentioning that every second car was sold through credit by the middle of summer 2008. Nowadays the share of such sales decreased 30 percent. According to the forecast of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT which was published in the new marketing report about the analysis of tendencies on the Russian market 2.85 million of new cars at the amount of 65,5 billion USD will be sold next year . While 1.32 million cars will be purchased through credit schemes at the amount of 21 billion USD. Average cost of one credit to buy a new car will grow up to 15,900 USD versus 13,900 USD last year.
It is worth mentioning that in summer before the financial crisis the analysts forecasted the annual volume of credit sales at the level of 1.6 million passenger cars while the total market capacity is 3.15 million units. Sergey Tselikov, the director of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT considers that in the second half of 2008 the Russian market of auto crediting will be 6-7 billion USD short in terms of money compared to summer expectations. Nevertheless the dynamics will be positive, 30-32 percent, compared to last year due to positive first half of the year.
The further development of crediting of the population will directly depend on the situation on the global and Russian fund sites. The faster the situation will stabilize the less loss the auto and other goods markets will have.
