As a platform for Moskvich electric vehicles, which are planned to be produced at the former Renault plant in Moscow (now the Moskvich plant), the development of the Kama startup, owned by KAMAZ CEO Sergey Kogogin and businessman Ruben Vardanyan, is being considered. According to the Vedomosti newspaper, citing its sources, electric vehicles on this platform will begin to be produced at the Moskvich plant in full cycle in 2024, but there is no final decision on this matter yet.

As previously reported by "AUTOSTAT", on July 6, KAMAZ and the government of Moscow signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of passenger transport and the production of domestic electric vehicles. KAMAZ will act as a technological partner of the project. A roadmap has also been formed for the creation of a Russian unified vehicle platform, on which the model range of the domestic passenger car industry will be developed. Until the end of 2022, about 600 cars will be produced, 200 of them will be equipped with electric engines. In 2023, the company will produce at least 50 thousand cars, and in 2024 - 100 thousand. The number of electric cars will be 10 and 20 thousand cars, respectively. The full production cycle with welding and body painting is scheduled for 2024. It is planned to produce five models under the Moskvich brand: four crossovers and one sedan.
