The Russian market of trucks is reducing

The Russian market of commercial vehicles has been gradually growing for some recent years. This tendency has prevailed till August of 2008. Thus, according to the analysts estimate of AUTOSTAT over 234,000 trucks were sold on the Russian market for 6 months of 2008 that held out a hope of the growth 18-20 percent up for 12 months and of the total sales volume of 470,000-480,000 units.
However this forecast did not come true. As it is mentioned in the review of Russian truck market the bank problems has quickly affected the market of auto crediting as well as the market of auto leasing. The demand for commercial vehicles of enterprises is still great but there are not enough own resources to buy them and it became problematic to get loan resources. Many companies begin to suspend deals about commercial vehicles and auto plants started to slowdown. Leaders of truck auto industry, KAMAZ and GAZ, faced problems which led to shut down of production. As a result, the analysts of the agency AUTOSTAT estimating the current market condition present the approximate forecast of the market for this year in volume terms of 425,000 units but it is nevertheless up 6.8 percent form last year.
The further development of the situation on the commercial vehicle market will directly depend on how fast the financial crisis will be overcome. In any case judging by the existing situation and the inertia of the production processes the analysts expect that in the nearest two-three years the market of commercial vehicles will significantly slowdown its growth as the dependence of corporate sales depends too much on the financial crisis but exactly they constitute the core of the whole sales volume. The agency AUTOSTAT forecasts that next year the sales volume of commercial vehicles may constitute from 350,000 to 395,000 units depending on the effectiveness of measures taken by the government to support the Russian economy. Correspondingly in 2010 the sales may reach the level of 370,000-405,000 units also depending on the moment and speed when the economy of country and the world will begin to overcome the crisis.
