Sales of new passenger cars in the 1st half of 2022 fell by 56% in compare with the same period of the previous year. Such data are provided by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analysis of the relevant information of JSC "Electronic Passport".

Sales of new cars of mass brands for 6 months were 321.1 thousand units, which is 55% lower than in January-June 2021. Thus, the mass segment accounted for 91.2% of the total passenger car market.
If we consider the TOP-25 of mass brands in terms of sales, then only one brand - the Chinese EXEED - managed to keep a positive trend. At the same time, this figure looks very significant - sales of EXEED cars in the 1st half of the year grew 3.5 times. Other mass brands recorded a drop in sales: from 11% (Great Wall) to 69% (Volkswagen).

A similar trend is observed in the premium segment - one brand is showing the growth. Thus, the Korean Genesis turned out to be in the black, the sales volume of which increased by 87%. The remaining premium brands are in the red. Lexus fell the most (-77%), while Infiniti (-31%) fell the least.

For six months, Russians bought 30.8 thousand new premium cars, which is 61% lower than for 6 months of 2021. Accordingly, the share of the premium segment was 8.8%.
