Volvo began the layoffs in Russia

Volvo Group has begun to reduce the staff in Russian divisions to adapt to changing conditions. This was reported to the Interfax agency in the press service of the automaker, by noting that the company did not make a decision to leave the Russian market.

The conditions under which employees will be fired and the number of layoffs are now determined by the leadership of the Russian office of the Volvo Group. Which divisions will be affected by the reduction, the company did not specify.

Meanwhile, the Volvo Group plant in Kaluga will continue to operate under a temporary suspension of operations until a new decision is made. Employees of the enterprise at the moment continue to be idle, said the Volvo Group. Recall that the plant in Kaluga suspended a work at the end of February due to the impossibility of importing auto components and parts. Today, the Volvo Group plant in Kaluga represents a production cluster that includes a workshop for welding and painting cabins with an area of 25,000 sq.m and a finished product workshop with an area of 45,000 sq.m (together with a warehouse and office and administrative premises). Both enterprises are closed in a single production cycle. The total investment in the Kaluga production cluster of the Volvo Group amounted to about 300 million Euros. In addition, the timely delivery of components to the assembly posts is ensured by the Volvo customs and logistics complex, opened in 2012 on the territory of the factory cluster.
