The market of new passenger cars will fall 2.5 times in 2022

For the entire current year, 600,000 new passenger cars* will be sold in Russia. It will be 2.5 times lower than in 2021. Such data was provided by the director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Tselikov during the live broadcast of "AUTOSTAT Operativka" (details - follow the link), dedicated to the results and trends of the car market.

The announced indicators correspond to the basic scenario of the market forecast, which was prepared by the agency's experts. At the same time, the optimistic development scenario assumes sales of new passenger cars at 690,000 units, which is a half (-54%) lower than the previous year. If the pessimistic scenario is implemented, then the market volume will be only 505 thousand units, and this corresponds to a three-fold drop (-67%).

The implementation of a particular scenario will depend on a number of factors. Firstly, they are economic and political (the deadline for the completion of the military special operation, the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions, changes in purchasing power, the dynamics of oil prices and the ruble exchange rate). Secondly, the state of the market and the stimulation of demand (the dynamics of prices for cars, the availability of loans, state support programs, the restoration of production and imports) will play an important role. All this together will have an impact on consumer behavior.
