How greatly will the financial crisis affect the auto market?

In October-November of this year the analytical agency AUTOSTAT interviewed people how critical the financial market will affect the Russian auto market. According to the results of this interview most respondents (88%) consider that the crisis will strongly affect the market. Moreover more than half (57.4%) respondents said that the influence of the crisis would be rather critical and sales of new cars in Russia would be declining.
Meanwhile a bit less than one-third of respondents (29.7%) said that the influence of the crisis would be rather evident but the market would still be growing though rather slower than before the crisis. And only one in ten of respondents (9,6%) thinks that after a short pause the Russian auto market will continue to grow steadily. Only 3.4% of respondents found difficulty in replying. Over 600 people were interviewed who represent different spheres of automobile business.
It is worth mentioning that in the course of time (the interview lasted over month) the share of respondents who think that the crisis will affect the auto market seriously was constantly growing. Moreover during the last week none of respondents said that the crisis influence would be insignificant and the market would continue to grow steadily. It testifies to the fact that people begin to understand the true aftereffects of the events which happen in the financial sphere when new reports have come from the global and Russian site.
