    In 2018, sales of new cars in Russia grew by 12.8% in compare with 2017. Both segments - the mass and premium ones - also showed the growth (+ 13.9% and + 7.4%, respectively). Sales of cars of mass brands reached 1 572 246 units in 2018, the share of which is 91.2% of the total sales volume.

The worst decline in new vehicle sales registered in Bashkiria

Among all regions of the Russian Federation, the largest decline in the new passenger car market was registered in Bashkortostan. This was found out by the experts of AUTOSTAT agency during the processing and analysis of the data from Electronic Passport company. Thus, in the first half of 2022, new passenger car sales in Bashkiria decreased by 64.3% (compared to the same period a year ago). At the same time, all over the country, the car market decreased by 55.6%. Besides Bashkortostan, the decline in the new vehicle sales was deeper than all-Russian average   in 37 other regions.  According to the experts of the agency, the automotive market decreased in all regions of the Russian Federation, and the least affected was Kamchatka (-18.4%). As for the largest regional markets, in the first half of the year, new passenger car sales reduced by 48.9% in Moscow, by 56% in Moscow region and by 55.7% in St. Petersburg.
