Belarusians bought 2.4 times more new passenger cars in June than in May

In June, 1,113 new passenger cars were sold in Belarus. According to the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA), this is 68% less than in June 2021, but 2.4 times more than in May 2022. According to BAA, the main reason for this sales volume is the lack of supply. "Uncertainty with vehicle quantity supplied remains for all brands in the second half of the year. The efficiency of dealer centers is declining due to a decrease in sales and rising costs. The car market has not yet found its equilibrium state. We would like to continue the positive sales dynamics in July as well," said G. B. Svidersky, BAA Board member. The leader of the brand rating in June was Chinese Geely, which sold 451 vehicles in Belarus during the month.

Russian LADA (149 vehicles) is on second and Korean Kia (121 vehicles) is on the third places. Other brands sold fewer than 100 vehicles. The first two places of the model rating belong to Chinese crossovers – the Geely Atlas Pro (343 vehicles) and the Geely Coolray (86 vehicles). The third place was taken by the Kia Rio (62 vehicles). TOP-5 in June also included the Volkswagen Polo (58 vehicles) and the Renault Logan Stepway (55 vehicles). The sales of other models were fewer than 50 vehicles. During the first summer month, 186 new light commercial vehicles were also sold in Belarus. In total, in the first half of this year, the sale of passenger cars and LCVs came up to 11,905 vehicles, BAA reports.
