The Russians began to buy new Euro-2 vehicles

For the first time in a long time, new vehicles of Euro-2 standard began to be sold again in Russia. This was discovered by AUTOSTAT experts after processing and analysis of the data on the passenger car market from Electronic Passport company. Thus, in June 2022, 257 new vehicles of Euro-2 standard were bought in Russia. At the same time, they all belong to the LADA Granta family - 143 sedans, 75 liftbacks and 39 estate cars.

Over a half (57%) of them were registered in 10 regions of the Russian Federation: Samara region (27 vehicles), Tatarstan (22 vehicles), Kirov region (14 vehicles), Nizhny Novgorod region (13 vehicles), Chelyabinsk region (13 vehicles), Sverdlovsk region (12 vehicles), Moscow (12 vehicles), Moscow region (12 vehicles), Bashkortostan (11 vehicles) and Voronezh region (10 vehicles). The last time new Euro-2 vehicles were wide-sold in our country in 2008, after which the standards gradually stiffened.

Early this year, Euro-5 standard was still in force in Russia, but on May 12, 2022, the government published Decree No. 855, which allows automakers not to equip new vehicles with a number of automotive systems that are unavailable due to anti-Russian sanctions. It also allows operation of all environmental standards - from Euro-0 to Euro-5. Automotive manufacturers have already started producing such vehicles, including vehicles with earlier eco-standards.

Thus, on June 8, AVTOVAZ started the production of a simplified version - the LADA Granta Classic’22, which costs 10-11% less than the previous version. Assembly of other models – the LADA Niva Legend and the Travel SUVs – is planned in summer under the same scheme.
