AVTOVAZ plans to design a crossover on LADA Vesta base

Production of a crossover on the LADA Vesta base – this is the short-term plan of AVTOVAZ. This information was given by the head of the enterprise, Maxim Sokolov in an interview during INNOPROM 2022 exhibition. We have already reported that the Russian company is developing its own platform, which will take 3-4 years. Such vehicles are expected to be highly localized.

AVTOVAZ plans to invest 1 billion rubles in research and development this year; a part of this sum will be allocated for development of a new platform concept. We should remind that the LADA Vesta production has been paused due to the lack of some components. Assembly of one of the most popular models in Russia will resume no earlier than 2023. At the same time, Maxim Sokolov assured that today, the enterprise is successfully coping with the cut off of supply chains. An updated strategy of the automotive industry development in today's realities will be developed and approved by the end of the summer.

The enterprise started to produce simplified models of the LADA Granta family. The first customers were municipal medical institutions. The plant will resume production of the LADA Niva Legend this month and the LADA Niva Travel in August.
