19% more new passenger cars were purchased in June vs. May

In June 2022, the sales of new passenger cars in Russia came up to 32,731 vehicles. According to the experts of AUTOSTAT agency after the processing of the data of Electronic Passport company, that is 19% more than in May (27,458 vehicles). However, that is 77% less than a year ago. We should remind that in June 2021, residents of the Russian Federation purchased 145,115 new vehicles. "It is clear that in the foreseeable future we will forget about last year's volumes, but on the other hand, sales in May and June hold out a hope that the Russian automotive market has reached its bottom, so it can push off and go up a little.

The results of the next summer months will be the most indicative, but a lot will depend on the volume of vehicle production at Russian enterprises and imports to our country," believes Azat Timerkhanov, head of the press service of AUTOSTAT agency.

About a half (48.5%) of the new vehicle sales in the first summer month came from three brands - domestic LADA (7,848 vehicles), as well as Korean Kia (4,307 vehicles) and Hyundai (3,687 vehicles). Chinese Chery moved up to the fourth place (2,317 vehicles), having left behind French Renault (2,150 vehicles). The TOP-10 in June also included Geely (1,626 vehicles), Haval (1,598 vehicles), Toyota (1,054 vehicles), Skoda (962 vehicles) and Nissan (907 vehicles).
