Avtotor will release an electric car much cheaper than Tesla

The electric cars of the Kaliningrad manufacturer Avtotor, the pilot lot of which is planned to be released in 2023, will be cheaper than Tesla. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avtotor Holding Valery Gorbunov, by noting that the company will try to make them available to a wide range of consumers - both private and corporate customers for car sharing or taxi. The interlocutor of the agency did not name the exact cost of the Russian electric car. Tesla electric vehicles are not officially represented in the Russian market, but they are imported privately from other countries. Tesla's minimum price in the US is about $45,000. "First of all, we plan to implement sedan and crossover bodies, but we do not exclude hatchbacks and minivans in the future. The target dimensions are class B and C according to the European classification," said Valery Gorbunov, explaining that the choice is due to the current economic situation in the country and purchasing power.

As previously reported, the existing Avtotor and already created new production facilities can be used, among other things, to place the production of electric vehicles. At the final stage, it will be the construction of new buildings that will have the production of automotive components. Next year, 7 new plants for the production of auto components, which are necessary for the production of electric vehicles and classic cars, should be launched in the Kaliningrad region.
