The production of passenger cars set an absolute anti-record in May 2022

According to Rosstat, for the first five months of 2022, 268,000 cars rolled off Russian assembly lines, which is 56.4% lower than in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, 4,000 cars were produced in May, which is 96.7% lower than a year before.

It should be noted that this is an absolute anti-record in the history of the Russian car industry, due to the downtime of the vast majority of Russian automobile plants due to a shortage of components because of a break in supply chains due to the situation around Ukraine. In addition, UAZ and the Tula Haval plant, which continued to operate, suspended their conveyors during the May public holidays and corporate holidays.

The production of trucks in January-May was 60.1 thousand units, which is 12% lower than the figure for the same period of the previous year. In May, 7.6 thousand trucks left the Russian conveyors, which is 39.3% lower than a year before. It is worth noting that KAMAZ has canceled the shortened three-day working week, which was introduced on March 15th, and from May 26th, 2022, it will again work in the usual five-day mode.
