Nissan will not resume the work of the plant in St. Petersburg until the beginning of October 2022. This decision was made at the annual meeting of the Japanese company and is due to the situation around Ukraine and the sanctions imposed against Russia. “We believe this situation could become more serious and protracted,” said CEO Makoto Uchidu. The Russian office of Nissan did not provide comments to the Autonews.ru portal.

Recall that Nissan plant in St. Petersburg has suspended the work since March 14th due to interruptions in the supply of components. This company produces crossovers Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano. To date, the number of employees of the plant is about 2000 people. In addition, Nissan Terrano crossover, which was produced at the facilities of the Moscow Renault Russia plant, will no longer be produced after Renault leaves our country. Dealers are currently selling off remnants of this model based on the first generation Duster. Earlier, Nissan also suspended the deliveries to Russia of the new generation Nissan Pathfinder SUV, which went on sale in mid-February 2022.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, according to the results of five months of 2022, Russian dealers of Nissan sold 12,165 cars, which is 43% lower than the figure for the same period of the previous year. Nissan's bestseller in the Russian market is Nissan Qashqai crossover, the sales of which decreased by 35% and reached 5342 units. Second place goes to Nissan X-Trail with 4532 sold cars, which is 38% lower than a year ago. As a result, both models entered the TOP-25 of best-selling cars in the Russian market, analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" state.
