Mass Chevrolet models leave the Russian market

UzAuto Motors stopped deliveries of mass-produced Chevrolet models to Russia back in March in order not to fall under US sanctions. To date, dealers have almost sold out all stocks: a small number of Chevrolet Nexia and Cobalt sedans are still available in different regions of Russia, but the Spark hatchback is no longer to be found. In mid-April, the American concern General Motors left the Russian market, taking with it premium Cadillac and Chevrolet models. And apparently, the supply of Chevrolet cars of the mass segment will not resume either - the Russian distribution company Keles Rus has actually stopped the work and even closed its website. "Supplies of Chevrolet cars of the mass segment to Russia have indeed been terminated, and no decision has been made to resume them.

I think this can only happen if the sanctions regime as a whole is changed. At present, the Keles Rus company has focused its activities on supporting warranty obligations to customers - we compensate dealers for the related costs, and also sell spare parts from the warehouse," the executive director of Keles Rus (official Chevrolet distributor representing Spark, Nexia and Cobalt models in the Russian market) Vadim Artamonov. Recall that sales of Chevrolet cars of the mass segment were resumed in the Russian market in June 2020 after an almost five-year break - as part of a special agreement between General Motors and UzAuto Motors. The Chevrolet model range of the mass segment was represented in Russia by three models - the compact sedans Cobalt and Nexia, as well as the Spark hatchback.

It should be noted that Chevrolet Spark was supplied to Russia by the UzAuto Motors plant located in the city of Asaka (Uzbekistan), and the Chevrolet Cobalt and Nexia were supplied to the SaryarkaAvtoProm plant in the city of Kostanay (Kazakhstan), where these models are produced by the SKD method from components manufactured at plant UzAuto Motors.
