Preferential car loans will return soon

Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation expects that the state program of preferential car loans will start the work in the nearest future. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of the department, by adding that the parameters of the program implementation, including financing and the expected sales volume, are currently being worked out. Recall that at a recent industry meeting chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin, it was decided to allocate 20.7 billion rubles to support demand for cars in Russia in 2022, including 10.2 billion rubles for the state program of preferential car loans.

According to Alexander Potapov, the deputy leader of the Otkritie Avto finance tribe, Alexander Potapov, the amount of 10 billion can allow subsidizing more than 100 thousand cars, taking into account current conditions, while the range of amounts is expected to be expanded. "It is important to note that the state program has historically applied only to cars produced in Russia. And taking into account the closure/stopping of the assembly of some Western brands at localized production facilities, it may have a much smaller effect on the market than required. In general, taking into account the current problems with supplies and components, it will be problematic to satisfy the resumption of preferential car loans and, most likely, will lead to an even greater shortage of cars. As a result, their prices will go up, which can become a real problem for the success of the state program," says Alexander Potapov.

In turn, the General Director of Gazprombank Autoleasing, Lilia Markova, notes that against the backdrop of a decrease in the solvency of the population and an increase in selling prices for cars, borrowed funds, while maintaining an acceptable refinancing rate, remain for many the only way to resolve the issue with a vehicle. Penetration of lending in the passenger segment is about 60%, leasing - about 13%. "So there is a demand for loans, and support from the state will only make them more attractive," sums up Lilia Markova.
