The market of new motorcycles fell by 22% in Russia

Based on the results of the first five months of 2002, the market of new vehicles in Russia shows a decline in almost all major segments. Thus, the fall of the market of new passenger cars was 51%, light commercial vehicles - 33%, trucks - 14% in January-May. The exception affected only the market of new buses, where, as the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" note, based on the results of data processing by JSC "Electronic Passport" (EPTS), a slight increase (+16%) was recorded. We decided to look at the "market temperature" in the motorcycle segment, where sales during the year were usually seasonal: as a rule, motorcycles are sold more in the spring and summer. According to statistics, for the first five months of 2022, Russians purchased 7,179 new motorcycles. This is 22% lower than a year ago.

In a more detailed study of the sales structure, experts noted that in January, February and March, the market of new motorcycles showed the steady growth, in the range of 45-52%. The decline in this segment began in April, when sales fell by 28%. In May, this decline intensified (-38%). In June, according to the results of the first three weeks, an even greater decrease in volumes is possible. Traditionally, in January-May, most new motorcycles were sold in Moscow and the Moscow Region - in total, these two constituent entities of the Russian Federation were about 30% of the total. Among the non-capital regions, the Sverdlovsk Region and the Krasnodar Territory are in the lead.

It is curious that not all regions went into negative territory by the results of five months. For example, two regions showed the growth in the TOP-10 of leaders: Kirov Region (+22%) and Novosibirsk Region (+9%).
