AVTOVAZ will return LADA with a 16-valve engine and a "robot" to the market

AVTOVAZ plans to resume the production of LADA cars with a robotic gearbox and 16-valve engines 21127, 21129 and 21179. This is reported by Lada.Online portal, citing its own sources, according to which, both VAZ "robot" and 16-valve power units are localized in Tolyatti, however, their production requires components that were previously supplied from Germany and other countries. These are actuators, controllers, phase shifters, nozzles. The search for alternative suppliers will take at least three months. At the same time, AVTOVAZ is not considering yet the possibility of continuing the production of cars with the classic "automatic" and continuously variable transmission (CVT) Jatco.

This is due to the fact that the units were supplied from Japan, but recently the country has become unfriendly to Russia. In the long term, the possibility of using automatic transmissions from China is being considered. Meanwhile, currently AVTOVAZ produces a single model - LADA Granta in a simplified configuration. Such cars are equipped with an eight-valve 1.6-liter engine with 90 hp, which is combined with a manual transmission. At the same time, the environmental class of the engine was lowered to Euro-2.
