AVTOVAZ intends to develop an electric model LADA

AVTOVAZ plans to develop a new model of an electric vehicle in the long term. This was stated by the president of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, by noting that the release of such a model would allow it to comply with modern trends. According to him, it has not been determined yet what form factor the future battery LADA will receive. At the same time, it can become both a hybrid and a pure electric vehicle. The decision will be made in accordance with the global trends and the development of the green vehicle industry.

At the same time, the head of AVTOVAZ believes that it is too early to write off internal combustion engines. According to Mr. Sokolov, classical units still have prospects and will be popular in the next decade. Therefore, AVTOVAZ plans to develop LADA model range on this traditional technology in the medium term. Recall that AVTOVAZ already had electric cars - for example, El LADA and Vesta EV. At the same time, the former head of the company, Nicolas Maure, said earlier that by 2028 it is planned to start the production of LADA cars on a new “green” platform. These should include gasoline and natural gas vehicles, as well as all-electric models. Earlier it became known that AvtoVAZ plans to develop a new platform of cars. As Mr. Sokolov said, when developing a new architecture, it is planned to use "certain developments based on the LADA Vesta platform."

In three or four years, AVTOVAZ expects to start the assembly of cars on this platform, while such cars will have a high level of localization both in terms of electronic components, as well as engines and gearboxes. In addition, a single auto cluster of component manufacturers will be created. In total, AVTOVAZ plans to allocate 1 billion rubles for research and development work this year, with some of them going to develop a new platform concept.
