AVTOVAZ specialists are considering different possibilities for launching the assembly of Renault models Duster, Logan and Sandero under the LADA brand. This was stated in an interview with the TASS agency by the president of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, by noting that the main difficulty is that these cars have a lot of foreign components produced mainly in "unfriendly countries." "In this regard, we are now assessing these risks, assessing our capabilities and resources required to launch these models, and most importantly, the focus of Renault and other suppliers to continue relations with AVTOVAZ. If we are not sure of this, then there is probably no point in launching the production of these cars," he explained. After the French company left the Russian market, the warranty service for Renault cars and the supply of spare parts came under the responsibility of AVTOVAZ.

According to Mr. Sokolov, AVTOVAZ receives applications from dealers for the supply of domestic cars. AVTOVAZ plans to localize the assembly of electronic equipment, automatic transmission, ABS, airbags and other items. In the case of ABS, the possibility of purchasing at friendly countries is being considered. "It is much more difficult with automatic transmissions, as it takes at least four years to launch such a plant even in the fastest possible mode," the head of AVTOVAZ explained.
