AVTOVAZ will develop a new vehicle platform within 3-4 years

AVTOVAZ plans to develop a new vehicle platform within three to four years. This was stated in an interview with the TASS agency by the president of AVTOVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, by noting that it will be a completely Russian platform that will allow the production, among other things, of cars with automatic transmissions. According to the head of AVTOVAZ, when developing a new architecture, it is planned to use "certain developments based on the LADA Vesta platform." In three or four years, AVTOVAZ expects to start the assembly of cars on this platform, while such cars will have a high level of localization both in terms of electronic components, as well as engines and gearboxes. In addition, a single auto cluster of component manufacturers will be created. In total, AVTOVAZ plans to allocate 1 billion rubles for research and development of work this year, with some of them going to develop a new platform concept.

Recall that on May 16th, agreements were signed on the transfer of Russian assets of the Renault Group to state ownership. As a result of the transactions, the shares in the assets will be distributed as follows: 100% of the shares of CJSC Renault Russia will be owned by the Moscow government, 67.69% of the shares of AVTOVAZ will become the property of the Russian Federation represented by FSUE NAMI subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The remaining shares of AVTOVAZ will be retained by Rostech. An important condition is the option for Renault to repurchase its stake in AVTOVAZ, which can be exercised within the next 6 years. Within the framework of the existing licenses, the production of the entire line of LADA cars at the production sites of AVTOVAZ will continue.

As the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, who headed the board of directors of AVTOVAZ, said earlier, new LADA products will be developed, also in Russian platforms using Russian engineering competencies, as well as with the maximum involvement of Russian component suppliers - this is a fundamental decision.
