Nissan Terrano leaves the Russian market

Nissan Terrano crossover has gone down in history after the recent closure of the Renault Russia plant in Moscow. Recall that this car, created on the basis of the first generation Renault Duster, was produced only in two countries - India and Russia. The model left the Indian market three years ago, but the Moscow Renault Russia plant continued to produce cars for the Russian market. At the same time, the production of the second generation Renault Duster began in Moscow a year ago, and in any case, the outdated Terrano would soon have to be removed from the assembly line. However, in March of this year, Renault stopped the plant, and in May handed it over to the Moscow government, and thus the production of the Nissan Terrano was finally completed. The Nissan press service did not comment on this information, but two brand dealerships told Wroom.ru that the crossover would no longer be produced in Russia.

Now in car dealerships throughout Russia there is a stock of several hundred Terranos. The crossover is available with two engines to choose from: a 1.6-liter 114 hp and a 2.0-liter, which produces 143 hp. A pair of units is a five- or 6-speed "mechanics" or "automatic", the drive can be either front or all-wheel drive. The cost of the model is from 1 million 690 thousand rubles. Recall that Nissan has its own plant in St. Petersburg, but this enterprise is designed to produce more modern crossovers - Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano. However, now this plant is still not working due to interruptions in the supply of components. The company itself believes that the forced downtime there may last until the spring of 2023. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, according to the results of five months of 2022, Russian dealers of Nissan sold 12,165 cars, which is 43% lower than the figure for the same period of the previous year.

Nissan's bestseller in the Russian market is the Nissan Qashqai crossover, the sales of which decreased by 35% and reached 5342 units. Second place goes to Nissan X-Trail with 4532 sold cars, which is 38% lower than a year ago. As a result, both models entered the TOP-25 of best-selling cars in the Russian market, analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" stated.
