How and why is the electric vehicle market growing in Russia?

In Russia, the share of sales of cars with all-wheel drive is declining

Experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" record a decrease in the share of sales of all-wheel drive vehicles in the last two months. They draw such a conclusion based on the results of processing and analyzing data from Electronic Passport JSC (EPTS) on the market of new passenger cars in Russia. If we look at the results of monthly sales, then in January the share of cars with all-wheel drive accounted for 39.4% of the total volume, in February this figure rose to 40.6%, and in March it reached 42.2%.

But in April, the reverse process began, when the share of sales of all-wheel drive passenger cars was 41.4%. In May, it dropped to 33.5%. Experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" associate the decrease in the share of all-wheel drive with the suspension of deliveries of almost all premium cars to Russia due to the imposed sanctions. And almost 90% of those sold cars have all-wheel drive. On the other hand, in the previous two months, the share of passenger cars with front-wheel drive has been growing in the Russian market.

If from January to March it fell (from 60.4% to 57.5%), then in April it increased to 58.3%, and in May it soared to 66.3%. As for rear-wheel drive vehicles, their share in the total sales volume is extremely small and remains at the level of 0.2 - 0.3% monthly.
