Simplified UAZ "Patriot" and "Loaf" will appear in July of 2022

The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will switch to the production of simplified cars from mid-summer. This was reported to Gazeta.Ru in the press service of UAZ, by adding that the company had previously agreed to supply the Bosch ABS system to the conveyor, but it suspended its activities in Russia. In turn, UAZ, like many other domestic car plants, is guided by a government decree that has simplified the requirements for certification of new cars in terms of environmental class (instead of Euro-5 engines, Euro-0 is allowed) and a number of security systems (without airbags, ERA-GLONASS emergency response systems, ABS and exchange rate stabilization systems).

"In accordance with the resourcing (change of supplier and supply channel - ed.) of models, it will take 9 to 12 months to replace the anti-lock brake system (ABS). Accordingly, we expect that from July this year, the production of UAZ Patriot and SGR cars without the ABS system will begin," the UAZ press service said. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, by the results of five months of 2022, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant sold 8,137 cars in Russia, which is 21% lower than a year ago.

As a result, the share of UAZ in the Russian market was 2.6% against 1.6% a year before, according to the AEB. The flagship SUV UAZ "Patriot" in January-May was chosen by 2,520 buyers (-34%). Among light commercial vehicles, UAZ is still the leader of the SGR family with 3,653 sold vehicles (-10%). The UAZ Profi light truck sold 886 units, which is 31% worse than a year ago.
