AVTOVAZ will resume the production of LADA Niva SUVs in July

AVTOVAZ, which started the production of LADA Granta cars in a simplified configuration on June 8th, will resume the production on the Niva line in July. This was announced by the president of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov. In the meantime, for the B0 and Niva assembly lines, the downtime has been extended until June 17th, while the assembly of LADA Granta will continue.

According to the press service of AVTOVAZ, with the restart of production on the LADA Granta line, the work of all related divisions of the plant (engines, chassis, press production, etc.) has been resumed. With daily production increasing, the facility has the necessary components to continue operations in the coming weeks. According to the results of five months of 2022, the total sales of LADA Niva Travel and Niva Legend SUVs were 12,350 units (-50%). As a result, LADA Niva family took the second place in the SUV segment after Hyundai Creta.

As previously reported by "AUTOSTAT", on May 16th, agreements were signed on the transfer of Russian assets of the Renault Group to state ownership. As a result of the transactions, the shares in the assets will be distributed as follows: 100% of the shares of CJSC Renault Russia will be owned by the Moscow government, 67.69% of the shares of AVTOVAZ will become the property of the Russian Federation represented by FSUE NAMI subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. The remaining shares of AVTOVAZ will be retained by Rostech.

An important condition is the option for Renault to repurchase its stake in AVTOVAZ, which can be exercised within the next 6 years. Within the framework of existing licenses, the production of the entire line of LADA cars at the production sites of AVTOVAZ will continue.
