In the Russian market, the share of the SUV segment is falling. This trend was revealed by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" by the results of processing and analyzing the data of JSC "Electronic Passport" (EPTS) on sales of new cars. If in January and February of this year the share of crossovers and SUVs (SUV) was 55% of the Russian market, then in March this figure even increased to 56%. But in April and May it dropped to 53%.
Experts attribute the decrease in the share of the SUV segment to the suspension of deliveries of almost all premium cars to Russia due to the imposed sanctions. And they are more than 70% represented by just crossovers and SUVs. Despite this, the SUV segment remains the largest in our country. The second largest segment, as you know, is segment B, the share of which, on the contrary, has been growing in the last two months.
Thus, in January-March it ranged from 31% to 32%, in April it increased to 33%, and in May to 35%. Thus, these two segments still account for over 85% of the total sales of new passenger cars in Russia. Accordingly, all the rest occupy a little more than 10% of the market.
