In May, Russians bought new cars less by 2% than in April

There were purchased 27,458 new passenger cars by residents of the Russian Federation in May 2022. According to the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT", by the results of data processing by JSC "Electronic Passport" (EPTS), this is 2% lower than in April (27,965 units). However, if we compare the result with what it was a year ago (in May 2021), then it turns out to be 78% less.

Over a half (56.5%) of all new car sales in May belonged to four brands - LADA (6,656 units), Kia (3,576 units), Hyundai (3,097 units) and Renault (2,183 units). But the Chinese brand Chery (1661 units), which was only the seventh in April, moved up to the fifth position. At the same time, two more brands from China got into the TOP-10 in May - Haval (1220 units; 7th place) and Geely (905 units; 9th place). In addition to them, Nissan (1233 units), Skoda (1095 units) and Toyota (870 units) were also in the top-10.
