Moscow regained the title of the largest secondary market in the country

Most used cars were purchased in Moscow this year. It was found out by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" after processing the relevant data of JSC "Electronic Passport" for the period from January to April 2022. During this time, residents of the Russian capital became the owners of 100 thousand used cars, which ensured its leadership in the regional ranking. Recall that Moscow has traditionally been the largest secondary market in the country, but in 2020 and 2021 it ceded this title to the Moscow region. Moreover, in January 2022, the Moscow region was also the leader, but the next three months the capital got back the leadership. The result of the region by the results of 4 months was 92.4 thousand of sold used cars. We were also interested to learn more about the preferences of the residents of both regions when buying used cars. Thus, in Moscow, the most popular brand in the secondary market is BMW, which accounts for 8%. The TOP-3 also included Mercedes-Benz (7.9%) and LADA (6.6%). But in the Moscow region, the domestic brand is the first one with a share of 12.9%. It is followed by Korean Kia and Hyundai (8.4% and 7.3%, respectively). As for the best-selling models in the secondary market, Hyundai Solaris is the leader in both regions.
