The experts of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" and the site Drom.ru decided to find out whether the Russians are ready in the current economic and geopolitical conditions to buy a car - one more or instead of an existing one. To this end, an online survey was conducted in April. Its results showed that almost a half (49.7%) of respondents do not plan to buy a car this year. At the same time, 8.5% of respondents will not do this, because they bought a car already in 2021.

Among the rest (50.3%) of the survey participants, 30.2% would like to buy or change a car, but do not have the financial ability to do so. More than 11% of Russians are planning to do this - some are not active yet, and some are already considering options. But 8.5% are thinking of giving up the car, because it became expensive to maintain. In addition, as a part of the survey, it was possible to find out which car those who intend to do so will buy. As it turned out, about three-quarters of respondents (73.4%) are aiming for a used car, and almost one in eight (11.9%) - for a new one. About 15% of respondents consider both options.
