Renault Duster will be produced under the LADA brand

Renault Duster crossover will be produced under the LADA brand at the AVTOVAZ plant in Tolyatti. Denis Pak, director of the department of the automotive industry and railway engineering of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, announced it on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel, by adding that a corresponding agreement was reached with Renault, which transferred a 68% stake in AVTOVAZ and 100% of the shares of the Moscow plant "Renault Russia" (where, until recently, Renault Duster was produced) to state ownership.

Today, the second-generation Renault Duster crossover is available in Russia, which is offered with 1.6-liter and 2-liter engines with a capacity of 117 and 143 hp, respectively, as well as with a 1.3-liter 150-horsepower turbo unit, working together with a 6-speed manual gearbox or with a CVT. As an alternative, the Duster is offered with an upgraded 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 109 hp. The car is available with front-wheel drive as well as all-wheel drive. The cost of the model ranges from 1 million 618 thousand rubles to 2 million 229 thousand rubles.

According to the results of four months of 2022, sales of Renault Duster in the Russian market fell by 17% and reached 9,170 vehicles. As a result, he entered the top three of the most popular SUV models in our country, analysts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" stated. In general, according to Denis Pak, under agreements with Renault, AVTOVAZ will retain the whole LADA model range within the framework of existing licenses with the possibility of developing new products in accordance with the company's existing plans. In the nearest future, the new management of AVTOVAZ, which will replace the French team, will present a new strategy for the development of the enterprise, with taking into account the reached agreements.
