Nissan does not expect operations to resume in Russia in 2022

The leadership of the Japanese automaker Nissan believes that operations suspended in Russia will not resume until the end of the 2022 fiscal year, said Makoto Uchida, the company's CEO, by presenting the results of the fiscal year 2021 (ended on March 31st). He added that the priority for Nissan is the safety of employees and their families in Russia and Ukraine. Recall that Nissan plant in St. Petersburg has suspended its work since March 14th due to interruptions in the supply of components. This company produces crossovers Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano.

To date, the number of employees of the plant is about 2000 people. Earlier, Nissan also suspended deliveries to Russia of the new generation Nissan Pathfinder SUV, which went on sale in mid-February 2022. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, according to the results of four months of 2022, Russian dealers of Nissan sold 11,750 Nissan cars, which is 33% lower than the figure for the same period of the previous year. As a result, Nissan ranked the eighth in terms of sales among all automakers in Russia, and the brand's market share was 4.0% in compare with 3.4% of a year earlier, according to the AEB.
