The Russian car market remained the sixth one in Europe in April 2022

The Russian automotive market, which fell out of the top five European leaders in March, remained the sixth one in Europe last month. According to the data received by the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the national associations of automakers in Europe, Germany became the leader in sales of cars in April, where 180,264 cars were sold (-21.5%).

According to the German Automobile Industry Association (VDA), the negative dynamics is recorded for the second month in a row and is due to ongoing disruptions in the supply of new cars due to a shortage of components for their production, which are aggravated by the logistics problems that have begun due to the situation in Ukraine. The UK ranked the second among the largest European car markets with 119,167 cars (-15.8%). The third result was shown by France – 108,723 sold cars (-22.6%). Italy is the next, the dealers of which sold 97,339 cars (-29.7%). According to the Italian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFIA), the negative dynamics, among other things, is due to pent-up demand due to government-approved measures to subsidize the purchase of environmentally friendly cars.

Spain still finishes the top five; its car market in April fell by 12.1% and reached 69,111 cars. If, when considering the automotive market in Europe, Russia is taken into account, then our country remains the sixth one in the European rating. Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were 32,706 units (-78.5%) the last month, according to the Association of European Businesses.
